Yliza Benjamin

I bring over 22 years of nursing experience. My professional career has been diverse ranging from General Surgery, Pediatric care, rural Maternity, teaching Nursing and Medical students, and Healthcare Leadership.  Most recently I was the Clinical Manager of Maternal Services at the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon from 2021-2025. This unit serves Saskatoon and surrounding Northern communities. We delivered over 5,000 births annually, making it the largest Maternity hospital in Saskatchewan.

Supporting women and their families through pregnancy and birth has been my primary career focus. I empower women by building their confidence in childbirth, between their partners and within supportive communities. I’ve demonstrated this commitment to our local community by teaching prenatal education to over 900 couples and as a birth doula from 2015-2025.

I have seen firsthand how Jasmin and her team serve families in their darkest moments allowing them to grieve and honor their baby’s life. Empty Arms is an integral part of our community, and I believe the services they provide should be made available to all families experiencing the loss of a child from pregnancy.
