Sibling Grief Group: 7-10 Year Olds

Kindred Kids (Ages 7–10)

Kindred Kids is a therapist-led creative grief group for school-aged siblings who have experienced the loss of a baby brother or sister during pregnancy, infancy, or childhood. As children grow, so does their understanding of grief. This group provides a safe and supportive space where they can ask questions, explore big emotions, build healthy coping skills, and connect with other children who understand what it means to miss a sibling.

Each one-hour session focuses on a different grief-related topic, including understanding loss, naming emotions, remembering and honouring a sibling, coping with change, navigating family dynamics, and building resilience. Sessions include a children's book or age-appropriate story, guided discussion, interactive activities, games, and creative projects that encourage self-expression and meaningful connection.

While the full series offers the greatest opportunity for learning and connection, each session is thoughtfully designed to stand alone, allowing families to register for individual sessions or participate in the entire program.

Children in this age group attend the session independently, giving them the opportunity to build confidence, form friendships, and share with peers in a supportive environment. Parents are welcome to remain onsite in our family space or return at the end of the session.

Our hope is that every child leaves feeling seen, understood, and empowered with new ways to express their grief—knowing they are part of a community that remembers both them and their sibling.
