Beading, Bannock, and Belonging: Forget-Me-Not

Join us for another gathering of Beading, Bannock & Belonging, our monthly community circle at Empty Arms created to bring people together through cultural learning, creativity, conversation, and connection.

For this gathering, participants will create a beaded poppy pin. With guidance from facilitators and an Elder, we’ll gather around the table to learn together, share bannock and tea, hear cultural teachings, and spend time in community.

A familiar symbol of remembrance, the poppy offers an opportunity to create something meaningful by hand while reflecting on memory, connection, and the people and stories we carry with us. Each participant is welcome to bring their own meaning and intention to their piece.

First Nations, Métis, and non-Indigenous community members are all welcome. You do not need to have a previous connection to Empty Arms or experience with pregnancy, infant, or child loss to participate.

No previous beading experience is necessary, and all supplies and refreshments are provided free of charge.

This workshop is intended for ages 15+.
